Rural ICT Centres/ Telecentres are often an orchestrated by community members who have a passion to change or give back something to their societies. This is the same scenario at Kibugat ICT Centre which is hosting this yeas 2nd annual conference with a theme: Communities first before Technology. Edward Kibosek who hails from Kibugat Community and had a chance to study in the UK, is back through support of his friends among them Dr. Peter Day from Brighton University to change this community ICT wise.

A centre which now have over 20 fully functional computers is beaming with hope and aspirations evident in the faces of the community members who already use it for their ICT needs. The conference has brought over 50 partners and stakeholders to discuss and share experiences on how telecentres can harness innovation, creativity and economic development of rural folks. The conference is unique because its held at rural location where participants get to feel and experience the conditions rural based ICT centres face.

Dr. Peter Day in his opening remarks introduced the concept of community networks as a means of mobilizing community, sustaining development and expanding networks, he moved participants into discussing their understanding of this concept and the outcomes were indeed filled with rich experiences. Kenya Telecentres network is present with its members to share experiences as well as learn from the experts.
