ForgetMeNot Africa's Message Optimiser (MO) platform bridges the gap between PC and mobile messaging by providing internet messaging on every mobile phone via eTXT's.

An eTXT is a message which can be sent and received seamlessly as an SMS, an email, chat or facebook message on any carriers network via SMS. No need for downloads to the phone, internet, PC access or a change in user behaviour. More on eTXT can be found here.

End-user benefit is clear, as email, chat and facebook interaction will be available for people having with the most basic mobile telephone.  Providers in Africa will be able to diversify their services and provide a service that does not need an internet connection but providing internet services.  6 mobile providers (with Kenyan Safaricom and New Glo Nigeria as largest providers) already provide this service and another 9 providers are in line to start providing the service.

For more information see: http://www.forgetmenotafrica.com/ and the 2 videos on the topic at the TelecentresAfrica homepage.
