KNACT1The Africa Knowledge Network (AKN) during the last workshop held in Nairobi Kenya last year, built consensus on the need to change the name from AKN to Knowledge Network of African Community Telecentres (KNACT).

This was mainly due to the fact that at a glance the name AKN does not depict any relationship with the telecentre movement and also the need to have a name that in itself could act as an elevator pitch.

KNACT2 A discussion on this had many rounds in December last year and by January many suggestions and contributions considered the terms" Knowledge Network" and "Community Telecentres" to be in the new name. Hence the new name becomes KNACT. The abbreviation with an 'ACT' embed on it 'action' meaning the network to be a 'network for action'.

During the workhshop the 1st issue of the KNACT Newsletter was launched by PS, Mininstry of Information and Communication, Dr. Bitange Ndemo.

The newsletter can be downloaded here.
