The project will support institutional and capacity development of Southern Africa Telecentre Network as a regional information and knowledge hub to foster national telecentre networks and facilitate information sharing and exchange among telecentres in southern
The project will provide capacity development services to existing and emerging network initiatives to improve delivery services.
The overall objective is to contribute to improved livelihoods of the rural communities in Southern African countries through increased access to the use of ICTs
To support institutional and capacity development of Southern Africa Telecentre Network as a regional information and knowledge hub to foster national telecentre networks and facilitate information sharing and exchange among telecentres in southern
The main purpose is to ensure increased effective collaboration, exchange of information services amongst local, national and regional telecentre networks and organizations to facilitating social and economic development in Southern African countries. This will be achieved through existence of a sustainable regional Telecentre Network providing capacity development services to local and national telecentres.
Specifically the project seeks resources to:
- Support establishment and development of the secretariat through provision of equipment and seed fund
- Support the human resource capacity
- Establish information management systems at secretariat
- Support national and regional capacity development through training and telecentre backstopping services
